The Weekend Update - 5.10.14

Saturday, May 10, 2014 with 12 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff:  stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)

What a week! Sickness. Crazy storms. Family drama. I thought Saturday would never get here! But it did, and I have many new books to add to my neverending TBR pile. So, ya know, it wasn't all bad. =D

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

All Lined Up (Rusk University, #1)Firebug (Firebug, #1)Free to FallFalling into PlaceLailah (The Styclar Saga, #1)

All Lined Up by Cora Carmack - via Edelweiss
Firebug by Lish McBride - ARC from publisher
Free to Fall by Lauren Miller - finished copy from publisher
Falling into Place by Amy Zhang - ARC won from publisher
Lailah by Nikki Kelly - ARC from publisher

Lots of awesome new reads this week, courtesy of Harper & Macmillan!

Purchased:

The Falconer (The Falconer, #1)The Sound of Us (Radio Hearts, #1)

The Falconer by Elizabeth May - loved this book so much I had to buy a gorgeous finished copy
The Sound of Us by Ashley Poston - this sounds really cute, and it was on sale for $1.99!!!

Library:

Lock and KeyEntwinedLevel 2 (The Memory Chronicles, #1)

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen (audio) - April just listened to this one and loved it, and it finally became available from my library, so I thought I'd check it out for myself.
Entwined by Heather Dixon (audio) - I've been reading The Twelve Dancing Princesses to Katie so frequently that it made me want to re-read this one.
Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans (audio) - Need to re-read this before picking up the sequel. I AM EXCITE.

So, that's my haul. How about you? What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

EntwinedOn the FenceYeah, so I haven't actually started this one yet, even though I fully intended to have it read by now. Sickness and all that. April said she's probably taking On the Fence with her on her cruise to Bermuda, so I figured I'd read it while she's gone so we can discuss it when she gets back. I've been putting it off for as long as I can, but I'm ready for another Kasie West book -- even if it means I have to wait that much longer for the next one. :(

My current re-read/listen before I get to Raging Star when it releases on Tuesday. I will drop everything for that book, but in the meantime, I figured a favorite would hold me over. =)

Upcoming Reviews:

Meridian (Arclight, #2)Raging Star (Dust Lands, #3)

  1. Ooh, I love the cover of Lailah! Admittedly I don't think the story is quite for me. I'll have to read some reviews and stuff. I really want to read Entwined soon, I'm certain I'll love it.
