Just when she thought things were going up…

Two years after a devastating breakup, Brittni Mitchell has moved on from Justin Avery—or so she tells herself. But when she returns to Seattle for her best friend’s engagement party, Brittni finds herself the victim of a disastrously timed elevator breakdown. She’s trapped with the last person she wants to face, and forced to recount the past she desperately wants to forget.

She’s going to have to look back…

When Brittni left her podunk hometown for a big city college experience at the University of Washington, hooking up with a guy like Justin Avery was not part of her plan. Between Justin’s attention-grabbing tattoos, cigarette smoking, and bad boy attitude Brittni quickly chalked him up as Mr. Wrong.” But his charm was unrelenting, and Brittni’s decision to give Justin a chance quickly turned into the worst choice she ever made.

So that she might be able to move forward.

Now she’s stuck with Justin—literally—and the complicated web of misunderstandings that tied up the truth for two years is about to unravel.

I read No Attachments earlier this year and really liked it, so I was pretty excited when I was offered an arc of Misunderstandings. Sadly, I didn’t get to it as quickly as I would have liked to, but it made for a great beach read on our vacation!!

What I wasn’t expecting with Misunderstandings, is that it takes place at the same exact time No Attachments is happening, which I found to be really fun. You don’t have to read them in order, but I have to say it was amusing to re-live some of Ashton’s adventures through Brittni’s eyes.

One other thing I really liked about Misunderstandings, is you get past and present. I’ve noticed a few books doing that lately, the chapters bouncing between time periods and when it’s done right, it’s awesome. I like how it all played out here, getting a firsthand view to what really went down while Brittni and and Justin hash it out.

You see, Brittni is visiting her friends to celebrate their engagement, but she gets trapped in an elevator with her ex Justin ( who hates her) and they are inadvertently forced to work through the event’s that taint their past. It was amusing and sad at the same time. My heart broke for them.

My only qualm was I think it wrapped up a little quickly, but I did really enjoy the hint you get into Tressa’s books, Contradictions. I’m looking forward to reading that one!

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good. If you’re looking for a New Adult books with more than just dirty sex, give the Woodfalls Girls a try. These books are fun!

  1. Sounds fun! I haven't read the first book, and even though you say they can be read out of order, I prefer not to. What's with the "trapped in an elevator" scenario, though? That's what The Geography of You and Me is about, too. And it's one of my worst fears! o_O
